Overland Park, Kan. (April 9, 2008) — Black & Veatch, a leading global
engineering, consulting and construction company, has named Tom Christensen and
Joseph Mahendran as Office Managers for the company’s Bangkok, Thailand, and
Pune, India, locations respectively.
Office Managers direct daily office operations, business development,
recruitment, training and overall growth of the company’s energy business in
the region.
“The appointment of Tom and Joseph will enhance our business expansion
capabilities,” said Dean Oskvig, President and CEO of Black & Veatch’s
global energy business. “As the economies of India, China and other areas of
Asia continue to grow, so will the demand for sustainable infrastructure, which
provides additional opportunities for us to deliver solutions to our clients’
complex challenges.”
Prior to his Bangkok assignment, Christensen was a Project Manager within
the company’s Telecommunications Division. He joined Black & Veatch in 1989
and has extensive experience in the development of telecommunications
infrastructure, including construction and project management. Christensen
received his bachelor of science degree in civil engineering from the
University of Nebraska in 1988.
Mahendran has more than 20 years of experience working on power generation
projects, particularly with combined cycle and coal technologies. Prior to his
appointment as the Pune Office Manager, he was a Project Controls Manager for
coal projects and proposals. Mahendran received his bachelor of science in
civil engineering, a master’s of science degree in construction management and
a master’s of science in civil engineering from Texas A&M University. He
received his MBA from Rollins College.
Black & Veatch’s Pune office was established in March 2004 and has grown
in size to approximately 140 professionals. The company’s Bangkok operations
began in April 1996. Since that time, the local staff has grown to more than
200 Thai and international professionals. Professionals in both locations
provide detailed design engineering and other services for major power plant,
petrochemical and, in Pune, telecommunications projects worldwide.
