Implementing a reasoned and proven approach to GHG reduction starts with developing
an understanding of the requirements and risks and subsequent development of the

Carbon Emissions Profiling Services
GHG Inventories
Black & Veatch can define and quantify the extent of each organization’s
GHG emissions. Activities include:
- assessing and the selection of an appropriate inventory protocol;
- identifying the boundaries of corporate activities in quantifying baseline emissions
data; and
- developing an inventory of maintenance plans.
Black & Veatch will assist you in defining and quantifying the life cycle GHG
emissions for your organization or project. Black & Veatch will evaluate the
mass balances of all major input and output streams per functional unit regarding
energy consumption, chemical reactions and resulting GHG emissions directly or indirectly
made to the environment. This evaluation includes emissions from:
- the production of materials used to build and operate the facilities;
- construction and ongoing operations; and
- final disposal and decommissioning of facilities.
GHG Reporting
Another Black & Veatch service is helping you compile annual emissions inventories
reports to federal or state registries. These reports will ensure the inventories
are fully creditable and verifiable in accordance with their specific rules. This
complete reporting will preserve future reduction credit or compliance options while
providing information for:
- annual corporate shareholder reviews;
- investor disclosures; and/or
- life-cycle product labeling and marketing purposes.
Reduction Credits
Services in this area include generation, verification, monitoring and certification.
Black & Veatch can:
- prepare GHG emissions reduction credits for sale or purchase;
- determine value as a creditable trading commodity; and
- assess the risks and uncertainties regarding their use in current and potential
future GHG reduction credit trading programs.
